Magnetic grinding machine, also known as magnetic polishing machine or eddy current grinding machine, is a kind of efficient and environmental protection equipment that uses magnetic field force to drive stainless steel needle (magnetic needle) to carry out surface finishing of workpiece.

I. Core working principles

The core principle is magnetic drive and eddy current effect.

1.Composition: The main part of the machine is a container filled with grinding medium (stainless steel magnetic needle) and grinding liquid (or water), and a powerful rotating magnetic field generator (a set of permanent magnets or electromagnets) is located at the bottom or side of the container.

2.Working process :

■ When the magnetic field generator is energized, the magnet inside it begins to rotate at high speed or change the direction of the magnetic field.

■ This changing magnetic field creates a vortex electric field in the stainless steel container.

■ The stainless steel magnetic needle with good diamagnetism is induced by the eddy current field and magnetized instantly, becoming a number of tiny 'magnetic brushes'.

■ The magnet needle will follow the direction of the rotating magnetic field and move at high speed and irregularly in the container (rolling up and down, rotating, rubbing against each other).

■ The workpiece to be processed is put into it, and the surface of the workpiece will be hit, scraped and polished by countless magnetic needles at high frequency and uniformly, so as to effectively remove burrs, flash and oxide scale, and achieve polishing and cleaning effects.

Simple analogy: It's like using countless tiny, high-speed moving 'steel bristles' to brush the surface of a workpiece, but these 'bristles' are controlled by an invisible magnetic field.

II. Main Features and Advantages

Compared with traditional manual polishing, vibration grinding, sandblasting and other methods, magnetic grinding has significant advantages:

1.Efficient and fast: the processing time is short, usually a batch of workpiece deburring and polishing can be completed in a few minutes to more than ten minutes, with high efficiency.

2.Uniform effect: no matter how complex the shape of the workpiece (such as inner hole, thread, cross hole, depression), the magnetic needle can reach it, no dead corners, and the effect is very uniform.

3.No damage to the workpiece: the processing process belongs to 'soft' contact, will not cause mechanical damage to the workpiece, will not change the dimensional accuracy and physical properties of the workpiece.

4.Environmental safety:

■ The grinding medium (stainless steel needle) and grinding fluid (usually neutral or weakly alkaline) used can be reused with low wear.

■ No dust pollution (compared with sandblasting, dry polishing).

■ Operational safety, the workpiece and grinding medium are completely isolated, no direct contact with manual.

5.High degree of automation: the processing time can be set, one person can operate multiple equipment, greatly saving labor costs.

6.Wide range of applications: suitable for all kinds of metal (copper, aluminum, zinc alloy, stainless steel, etc.) and hard plastic and other materials precision parts.

III. Main application areas

Magnetic grinding machine is widely used in the industry with high surface quality requirements of parts:

■ Precision hardware industry: remove burrs and tool marks of CNC machining parts, turning parts and stamping parts to improve surface finish.

■ Medical device industry: polishing surgical instruments, dental parts, implants, etc., require extremely high surface cleanliness and no burrs.

■ Electronic components industry: Clean connectors (connectors), precision casings, and burrs and oxide layers on heat sinks.

■ Auto parts industry: processing engine small parts, fuel nozzles, gears, transmission parts, etc.

■ Jewelry industry: polishing and burnishing of metal jewelry.

■ Aerospace industry: deburring and surface treatment of precision components.

IV. Basic operation process

1. Preparation: Place the workpiece into a stainless steel container.

2. Add medium: pour in an appropriate amount of stainless steel magnetic needle and grinding fluid/water (the proportion should be adjusted according to the workpiece and effect requirements).

3.Start up: Cover the lid, set the processing time, start the machine.

4.Separation and cleaning: after processing, the stainless steel magnetic needle is easily separated from the workpiece by using the machine's own or supporting sorting machine (magnetic separator).

5.Follow-up treatment: Take out the workpiece, rinse it clean with water and dry it.

V. NOTES

■ Workpiece material: The workpiece must be non-magnetic material (such as copper, aluminum, stainless steel 304/316, zinc alloy, plastic, etc.). If it is magnetic material (such as iron, carbon steel), it will be attracted by the magnetic field and cannot produce relative movement with the magnetic needle, resulting in failure to process or even damage the equipment.

■ Magnetic needle selection: The diameter and shape of the magnetic needle (straight needle, curved needle, spherical needle) will affect the grinding effect, so it should be selected according to the size and complexity of the workpiece.

■ Grinding fluid: the selection of appropriate grinding fluid can greatly improve the efficiency and smoothness, and play a role in rust prevention and cleaning.

■ Equipment maintenance: clean the container regularly, check the wear of the magnetic needle and replenish it in time.

In a word, magnetic grinding machine is a modern equipment that uses advanced magnetic principle to achieve precision, high efficiency and environmental protection surface treatment. It is especially suitable for processing small precision parts with complex shapes, and plays an increasingly important role in modern manufacturing industry.
